Nantou’s Newest Family-Friendly Camping Site: Big Sand Pit & Cool “Spring Water” Swimming Pool

Ample open space perfect for family camping—just looking at it makes you want to give it a try, right?

Wild camping by the splash pool, the envy of all

Well-lit surroundings at night (lighting control for bedtime at 22:00)

Super atmospheric dining area (near completion, currently under interior finishing)

Just a 20-minute drive to enjoy the stunning night view of Golden Dragon Mountain

When the campsite is misty, it’s even better for catching the glassy glow of Golden Dragon Mountain

Forest-scented ecological pond encircling the site

Each camping area is adjacent to an ecological pond

The most popular little green-headed ducks appear in the ecological pond area

A fisherman’s delight—easy stream fishing right next to the campsite

Paper Dome nearby, perfect for a day trip

Pink lotus blossoms fill the Paper Dome lotus pond

Trails near the campsite offer great views of butterfly ecology (around a dozen species)

Environmental cleaning and disinfection carried out twice a week to eliminate mosquitoes and insects

Heading toward Sun Moon Lake on Provincial Highway 21, take the right turn at the 50 km mark

At the 50.7 km mark on Provincial Highway 21, turn right after the FamilyMart

Head toward the Paper Dome, turn right

About 200 meters past the Paper Dome, you’ll reach a fork in the road (the campsite is on the left side of the fork)

About 30 meters down the fork is the campsite entrance (note: no signboard)

The beautiful main camp area (dining zone) – please reserve and pay in advance.

Interior decoration is nearly complete and it should be open in about one or two weeks.

Dedicated large parking lot for vehicles – safety first.

Gravel road in front of campsites allows two-way traffic; easy to drive.

Trolleys are provided – please return them after unloading gear.

Let’s first take a look at the first area next to the main camp area:

Due to damaged turf at the entrance, this area has a limit on the number of tents allowed.

When photographed from the main camp area, small portions need reseeding.

All large washing sinks are of the same style.

Ideal for smaller sub-zones, with a maximum of four tents per site.

Currently, campsite allocations are quite generous, making camping more relaxing.

Nighttime temperatures are very cool – a great campsite even in summer.

More and more campers are choosing night drives – a smart move for a relaxing time.

On Saturday mornings, you can visit nearby Sun Moon Lake or Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village.

The second area – currently the turf is under recovery.

I think it will need a few weeks to recover.

The sink styles are mostly the same, and the electrical boxes with waterproof outlets are located nearby.

Now let’s look at the currently most beautiful third area:

The largest block in the campsite, close to both the parking lot and restrooms.

Behind the campsites, there is also a stone path connecting all areas.

This path also leads to the large scenic pond and the restaurant/main camp area.

The campsite is also convenient for eating out – there are snack shops in Taomi Village.

It’s also just about a ten-minute drive to Yuchi Township – truly convenient.

On Friday night, the sky was cloudy and fog began to roll in.

Based on experience, tonight we chose to head to Jinxin Mountain first to chase the scenery.

Photography-loving campers can also use this as a stopover – remember to go up Jinxin Mountain when it’s foggy.

On a quiet night with few people around, don’t you also want some peace and quiet?

Finally, the fourth area, which includes the splash pool, is all within the same block.

A highly completed area that should become even better after a test camping session.

Some turf areas are softer – it has been suggested to lay down more fine gravel to prevent water pooling.

There are conveniences on both sides of the sink — very handy

There are woods on both sides, and an ecological pond area at the back

Right at the front is a splash pool and a sandpit — what a great campsite spot

For those who love to play, this area is perfect — close to facilities and great for keeping an eye on the kids

The campers these past two nights have all been from quiet groups

Everything was peaceful even before the official time — going with a good group really makes a difference

A good campsite also needs good camping companions — it makes the experience ten times better

Here’s the scoop on the best bathroom area for everyone: (toilets on the left, showers on the right)

All are large family bathrooms ×6, suitable for people with disabilities

Large vanity countertops with under-counter sinks — very thoughtful and practical

Spacious shower facilities (additional cleaning supplies will be provided)

Child-specific equipment is placed at the entrance — help yourself if needed

Ventilated, clean toilets with no odors

There’s staff assigned to maintain them — really great, and toilet paper is provided

There’s also a large washbasin outside for easy use

Grass protectors are placed next to the toilets — please return them after use

One of the important facilities in the campsite: a large scenic, circular ecological area

An ecological playground surrounded by greenery and flowers

The circular ecological pond area is lined with various types of azaleas and flowers on both sides

In addition, there’s a dedicated stone-paved pathway next to the ecological pond, connecting different areas

On the left, about 40 jaboticaba trees are planted, which can be harvested multiple times a year

The campsite has abundant dragonfly life, all thanks to this ecological pond

There are also some domestic ducks roaming around — playful and adorable, running all over

Just outside the campsite is a babbling brook

It’s the perfect spot for fishing enthusiasts to try their luck in the stream

It’s really quick — you can catch stream fish without even using a float

Just use bait that costs ten yuan — even bread works

You can catch this many in just a few minutes (for the experience only, please release them afterward)

The campsite also has one more crucial area:

The children’s play area — for sand play, water play, and even for adults to dip their feet

The ice spring pool is extremely cool (not stream water).

There’s also a fairly large sand play area, both kept very clean.

On summer nights, soak your feet by the pool and enjoy an ice treat—pure bliss.

No need to drive; you can stroll around and observe the nearby ecosystem.

Although the Paper Dome charges an entrance fee, walking around it is also a fantastic experience.

The surrounding ecosystem is truly laid out before your eyes—extremely rich.

If you love nature, take big steps forward without hesitation.

Just open your eyes and experience a feast of colors.
