The Dangli Yao Family Ancestral Hall

The Dangli Yao Family Ancestral Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Anhui Province.

The Dangli Yao Family Ancestral Hall has three courtyards, a brick-and-timber structure with a raised-beam frame, and a rectangular floor plan. It is 39.8 meters deep, 16.3 meters wide, and 8.87 meters high, covering an area of 592 square meters. The foundation of the ancestral hall rises gradually along the mountain slope, with the main hall in the center and side chambers on both sides. The column bases are made of bluestone and feature round drum-shaped, hexagonal, octagonal, and square skirt-like designs. The beams and spandrels are all carved. The front courtyard is elongated, while the middle courtyard is rectangular. In front of the ancestral hall is a plaza, at the top of which lies a crescent-shaped release pond, with a modern stone tablet inscribed with the poem “Lodging at Xiahú” by Tang Dynasty poet Li Bai, who visited this site. This ancestral hall is one of the main venues for the national intangible cultural heritage — Qimen Nuo Opera rituals. The pillars, column bases, beams, and other framework elements of the hall are largely well-preserved.

Protected area: Extends 8 meters in front of the main gate, and 2 meters to the east, south, and north.

Construction control zone: Extends 5 meters to the east and north, and 10 meters to the west and south beyond the protected area.
