Nanxinan Village Memorial Archway

The Nanxinan Village Memorial Archway is a cultural relic protection unit of Anhui Province.

The Nan Village Memorial Archway is located at the northern water outlet of Nanxinan Village, Tunxi District, Huangshan City.

It includes the Wu Zhongming Archway and the Wu Weiqi Archway. The Wu Zhongming Archway was built in the 40th year of the Wanli reign during the Ming Dynasty (1614), as a four-pillar, three-bay, three-story towering stone memorial archway, standing 12.6 meters high and spanning 9.6 meters wide. It is now a provincial-level cultural relic protection unit in Anhui. The top vertical plaque of the Nan Village Memorial Archway is inscribed in seal script, the third level features horizontal plaques, with the right side engraved with “Mengqiu of the 40th Year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty”, the middle displaying the bold characters “Rong En San Dai” (Honored Through Three Generations). The second level also has horizontal plaques. This archway features scientific design and is a representative example of Ming Dynasty stone archways in Huizhou. The Wu Weiqi Archway was built in the 54th year of the Kangxi reign during the Qing Dynasty (1715), as a four-pillar, three-bay, three-story towering structure, 9.6 meters wide and 13.4 meters high. The top vertical plaque is inscribed with the two characters “Tan En”; the second-level horizontal plaque bears the four large characters “Rong Feng San Dai” (Honored Title Bestowed on Three Generations); the third and fourth levels also have inscriptions. This archway is exquisitely crafted and is a representative example of Qing Dynasty stone archways in Huizhou.
