Liyang Town: Liyang was established as Liyang County in 207 AD and renamed from Liyang to Liyang during the Jin Dynasty. Situated at the “confluence of two rivers and hub of three provinces,” it has been a commercial center on the border of Anhui, Zhejiang, and Jiangxi, as well as an important dock town along the Xin’an River for thousands of years. It is often said that “Tunxi represents the Ming and Qing dynasties, while Liyang represents the Tang and Song dynasties.”

In the spring of 1992, Liyang Town was formed through the merger of three townships — Liyang Township, Longfu Township, and Jianzhong Township. It currently administers 8 villages and 5 communities, with a total population of 31,389. The town covers a total area of 22.89 square kilometers.
