Tunxi Longshan Temple (Little Dragon Mountain) is a cultural relic protection unit of Huangshan City.

Tunxi Longshan Temple (Little Dragon Mountain) is located in Liyang Town, Tunxi District, dating back to the Tang Dynasty.

Little Dragon Mountain, originally called Zhupu Mountain or Xiang Mountain, is located southwest of Liyang Town, Tunxi District, Huangshan City, Anhui Province. Legend has it that during the early Song Dynasty, an official admired the beautiful scenery of the streams and mountains here and chose to live in the area, which gave the mountain its name. During the Anti-Japanese War, when the ancient temple at the foot of the mountain was being renovated, the Y-shaped rocky peak resembling a dragon’s head and the earthen hill behind the mountain stretching like a coiled dragon led to the renaming of the site as “Little Dragon Mountain.” The main peak stands 150.8 meters above sea level, with steep cliffs rising abruptly from the ground, featuring unique rock formations such as “Two Youths Preaching the Scriptures” and “Snail Shedding Its Shell.” It is a popular scenic destination in western Tunxi. At the foot of the mountain lies Longshan Temple, which was first built in the Tang Dynasty, originally named “Renshou Nunnery” or Sanbu Hermitage, and was reconstructed during the Ming and Qing dynasties. An ancient poem goes: “The mountain teems with visitors thick as threads, yet only this Zen forest is Little Dragon,” earning it the reputation of “Little Jiuhua of the South.”
