Ancient Opera Houses of Huizhou
The Ancient Opera Houses of Huizhou are cultural heritage conservation units of Huangshan City.
Scattered across the Xin'an Township west of Qimen County, Wangjiahe in Shanli Town, and the Wenshan River basin, there are 11 ancient opera houses preserved from various periods since the Ming and Qing dynasties. They are the crystallization of the wisdom of the ancient people of our county, forming a complete history and physical testament to Huizhou’s stage culture. Their exquisite carvings, unique architectural styles, and intact wooden structures are important historical materials for studying the ancient history of Qimen, and they reflect, from one perspective, the artistry and achievements of Huizhou’s architectural craftsmanship. They represent a unique tourism resource.
