The traditional residence "Gao Gang Ming Feng"

The traditional residence "Gao Gang Ming Feng" is a cultural relic protection unit of Anqing City.

The century-old traditional residence "Gao Gang Ming Feng," located on Longmenkou Street in Anqing, can be found just over a hundred meters west of Qiao Tower. In the early years of the Republic of China, Cheng Mingluan, then vice president of the Anhui Provincial Chamber of Commerce, purchased the land at the original site of "Fengming Academy" in Huaining, where he constructed a modern-style traditional residence in the Huizhou architectural style, naming it "Gao Gang Ming Feng." It is not only an excellent vantage point for distant views but also an important site for appreciating ancient residential architecture.

"Gao Gang Ming Feng" is a two-story, two-courtyard old house built with flat-laid blue bricks, situated in Mingfeng Lane at the top of Countyxia Slope. It gets its name from the four characters "高冈鸣凤" (Gao Gang Ming Feng) inscribed on the horizontal plaque above the main gate. Here, "Gao Gang" refers to the location where the residence was built, while "Ming Feng" originates from the nearby Mingfeng Tower in Mingfeng Lane. The Mingfeng Tower was first built in the 13th year of the Jiaqing reign (1803), funded by Zuo Fu, the magistrate of Huaining County. Climbing the tower and looking north offers a full view of the Huaining County government office.
