The “Taichung Children’s Art Festival,” a major children’s day art event hosted by the Taichung City Cultural Affairs Bureau, has entered its seventh year this year. The festival will run from March 17 to March 30, scheduled just before the Children’s Day holiday. It will connect the Huludun Cultural Center, Tuen District Arts and Culture Center, and Port District Art Center through an “Art Train,” featuring five cultural and artistic performances. This isn’t just for kids to enjoy the shows, but also to experience different aspects of performing arts firsthand, including rehearsals, interactions with actors, and hands-on activities. From April 4 to 7, the “Taichung Children’s Grand Art Garden” series of performances will also be held at the Wenxin Forest Park.

In addition to enjoying classic performances by troupes such as the “Little Frog Troupe,” “Big Open Troupe,” “Childlike Troupe,” “Stubborn Stone Troupe,” “Ultimate Physical Dance Troupe,” and “Only Puppet Troupe,” each performance also features specially planned activities for children before and after the show: the “Stubborn Stone Troupe” and “Big Open Troupe” will take families behind the scenes of rehearsals, unveiling the mystery of theater performances; the “Childlike Troupe” lets children experience the “marble wish” ritual of the main characters in the play; the “Little Frog Troupe” creates a stage visual installation space where the audience can get up close; the “Ultimate Physical Dance Troupe” uses their dance expertise to dance along with the children.

Citizens who can’t participate in the special theater event plans can still catch all the troupes performing at the outdoor stage area of Wenxin Forest Park’s “Taichung Children’s Grand Art Garden” from April 4 to 7, alongside other performance groups from Taichung City. The Grand Art Garden will also feature art experience zones planned by various troupes, allowing children to interact with the teams and explore different forms of artistic expression after the shows. The “Taichung Children’s Art Train” will offer free ticket pickup at the performance venue starting at 6:30 PM on the day of the event, one ticket per person. The “Taichung Children’s Grand Art Garden” allows families to freely enter, watch performances, enjoy experiences, and celebrate together with the various art troupes on-site.
