Attractions and cuisine from various parts of Taiwan have been making their way onto the international stage. Following its previous features on 40 must-try Taiwanese dishes, Taiwan’s Top 10 Small Tourist Towns, and Taipei’s hidden travel gems, the U.S. Cable News Network (CNN) website has once again recommended that Kenting’s Guanshan is one of the world’s 12 best places to enjoy stunning sunset views. Other sunset spots featured this time include Australia’s Uluru and Kata Tjuta in the central north, Italy’s Aci Trezza fishing village in Catania, the Grand Canyon in the United States, Dubai, and China’s West Lake, among 12 world-renowned tourist destinations.

Located in the southwest of the Hengchun Peninsula, Guanshan is an uplifted coral reef plateau with an elevation of about 152 meters. Due to its high altitude, it offers the best vantage point to watch the sunset and gaze out over the various areas of the Hengchun Peninsula. The Tourism Bureau under the Ministry of Transportation and Communications stated that in southern Taiwan, whether you’re taking a stroll in the morning light or the glow of the setting sun, admiring the mangroves and azure coastline at Taiwan’s southernmost tip, or observing the unique geology and rich biodiversity, it’s an irreplaceable travel experience. In addition, CNN noted in its report that because the Hengchun Peninsula has not been affected by railways or highways, its natural landscape has been preserved, resembling a natural paradise, and that Guanshan’s Fude Temple offers a panoramic view of the Hengchun Peninsula, making it the best spot to enjoy the sunset at Guanshan.
