Tomb of Fang Baotang

The Tomb of Fang Baotang is a municipal cultural heritage site protected by Anqing City.

The Tomb of Fang Baotang is located in Baihua Village, Dalongshan Town, Yixiu District, Anqing City. Originally situated in the Yang’ao villager group of Baihua Village, the tomb was relocated to Siji Dapai in Baihua Village in 1999 due to the construction of the Hefei–Anqing Expressway. According to Secretary Si Dongqing of Baihua Village, there were originally four one-person-tall decorative arches and two tombstones in front of the tomb, one of which was destroyed during the Cultural Revolution. The tomb was relocated and combined as a joint burial site for a couple in 1999, and now consists of one tombstone and two burial mounds. The tomb faces south with its back to the north. The upper part of the tombstone features a 40 cm high arched top, while the lower part measures 170 cm × 95 cm × 15 cm. Due to the long passage of time, the inscriptions on the tombstone have severely weathered and are no longer legible. The burial mounds are 5 meters in length, 3.6 meters in width, and spaced 5 meters apart from each other.

Fang Zongcheng (1818–1888), courtesy name Cunzhi, also known as Baotang or Zhusheng, was a renowned writer of the Tongcheng School during the Qing Dynasty. From a young age, he possessed lofty aspirations, and many local elders and scholars wished to associate with him. Wu Zhuru, the governor of Shandong, admired his talent and sought his friendship. Later, he governed Zaoqiang County, founded the Jingyi Academy, and eventually served as the educational commissioner of Anhui. He authored over a hundred volumes of works, including "Baotang Classics Discourses," "Baotang Collected Writings," and "Record of Aspirational Learning."

On September 22, 2017, the Tomb of Fang Baotang was designated as part of the seventh batch of municipal-level cultural heritage protection units in Anqing City.

Dalong Mountain lies between 116°58′–117°01′ east longitude and 30°35′–30°38′ north latitude.
