Wansong Chan Temple County records indicate that "Wansong Hermitage" was situated northeast of the county, encircled by ancient green pines—thus named—and constructed during the Hongwu era. However, as the years passed, it underwent multiple periods of prosperity and decline. In 2001, Master Xinguan, along with a group of followers, made concerted efforts to restore it, installing a revered statue of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, and the temple began to take on a substantial form. It was then renamed Wansong Chan Temple. In 2009, to accommodate the government's planned industrial redevelopment, the temple was relocated to the hillside behind a thousand-year-old cypress tree at the eastern side of Phoenix Mountain.
