The Ancient Chinese Papermaking Culture Village is located on the picturesque banks of the Fuchun River, 30 kilometers from the world-renowned tourist city of Hangzhou. With convenient transportation, it is a nationally key cultural tourism development project. Covering an area of two hectares, the village displays a wide range of tools used in papermaking and printing since the inventions of these crafts. Through workshops for papermaking and printing, it presents two of China’s Four Great Inventions to the public: papermaking and printing.

Guided by villagers dressed in Song Dynasty attire, visitors can both tour the site and engage in hands-on experiences, which adds fun to the visit while enriching their knowledge. This truly fulfills the purpose of a cultural tourism project that “educates through experience,” allowing modern people—who often “know the what but not the why”—to step back in time through a historical tunnel to an ancient civilization.
