On November 8, coinciding with the Start of Winter solar term, when “nourishing in autumn and winter helps you fight tigers in spring,” the “Energizing Winter Warmth” 2019 Hangzhou Leisure & Wellness Promotion was held at Lao She Teahouse in Beijing. The event welcomed Beijing tourists to experience Hangzhou’s wellness culture during this ideal season for nourishment and leisure.
The “Energizing Winter Warmth” 2019 Hangzhou Leisure & Wellness (Beijing) Promotion was hosted by the Hangzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism, organized by the Hangzhou Characteristic & Potential Tourism Industries Development Center (Hangzhou Tourism Economy Lab), and co-organized by Zhejiang Daily Group’s All-Media Tourism Center, the Hangzhou Recuperation & Leisure Industry Association, Meituan-Dianping, and Feekr Travel, among others. Over a hundred representatives from the cultural tourism industry and media attended the event.

Hangzhou’s wellness tourism resources cover various aspects including recreational wellness, culinary wellness, medical wellness, sports wellness, and beauty wellness. Leveraging its brand advantage as a recuperation destination and its unique integration of traditional Chinese and Western medicine resources, Hangzhou has developed a series of health and wellness tourism products. Visitors can have their pulse taken and receive a custom tonic herbal paste at the Herbal Patch Festival at Qinghefang Traditional Chinese Medicine Clinic to boost their vitality; they can join traditional festivals such as the Mutton Pot Festival, Beef Pot Festival, and Sticky Rice Cake Festival in Yuhang, Fuyang, and Waitongwu Village, even making sweet glutinous rice cakes themselves; or they can experience leisure routes like hot spring tours and wellness check-up journeys. The organizers stated that big data is playing an increasingly important role in Hangzhou. The implementation of applications such as the Hangzhou City Brain Cultural Tourism System, 10-second hotel search, 20-second attraction entry, 30-second hotel check-in, and digital dedicated lines has reduced waiting times for visitors, making it possible to “gain an extra hour of sightseeing.” In the future, Hangzhou will further enhance visitor experiences through technological means.
