Xindeng Battle Memorial Hall and Martyrs' Cemetery

The Xindeng Battle Martyrs' Cemetery is located on Tashan Mountain to the west of Xindeng Town. It was built to commemorate the more than 300 martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Xindeng Battle, covering an area of 520 square meters. The site includes a martyrs' tomb, Huaiying Pavilion, a memorial monument, and other structures.

In May 1945, 5,000 soldiers of the New Fourth Army from the Su-Zhe Military District captured Lin'an in one swift move, and then advanced toward Xindeng along three routes. On the evening of June 1, Xindeng was declared liberated. After learning that the Kuomintang’s Third War Zone Command planned to deploy 14 main divisions to attack the Tianmu region, in order to concentrate forces against the stubborn troops, the Su-Zhe Military District units voluntarily withdrew from Xindeng on the evening of June 4.

During this battle, the New Fourth Army fought fiercely for seven days and nights, overcoming the odds to defeat over 19,000 troops of the Kuomintang’s 79th Division and the “Shock 1st Team,” achieving glorious results. In 1953, the People's Government of Fuyang County established the Xindeng Battle Tashan Martyrs' Cemetery on Tashan Mountain. In March 2000, the Xindeng Battle Memorial Hall was set up in Tashan Village, Xindeng Town, featuring panel displays that present the background and course of the Xindeng Battle, as well as the deeds of key martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the battle.

It currently has 893 farming households, a population of 2,717, about 1,220 mu of arable land, and around 1,700 mu of forestland.
