The Memorial Hall of the CCP Hangzhou Branch is located at No. 3 Fangguyuan, Shangcheng District. As a tribute project for the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the memorial hall adopts a display approach that combines traditional methods with modern technologies such as sound, light, and electricity to vividly depict the entire process of the creation, development, growth, and eventual widespread influence of Zhejiang Province’s first communist organization—the CCP Hangzhou Branch. The hall is divided into four exhibition areas: "Tides Rising Over Qiantang," "Sparks Over Qiantang," "Surging Tides Over Qiantang," and "Qiantang Today."

At the center of the "Tides Rising Over Qiantang" exhibition area stands an illusion platform that utilizes 360-degree holographic imaging technology. Through light and shadow effects suspended in mid-air, it vividly recreates the scene during the May Fourth Movement when progressive students from the First Provincial Normal School founded Zhejiang’s first progressive publication, Zhejiang New Tide. Six LCD monitors in the exhibition area respectively showcase topics including the May Fourth Movement in Hangzhou, the spread of Marxism in Hangzhou, the renowned First Normal School Incident known both at home and abroad, progressive intellectuals from Zhejiang, the labor movement in Zhejiang, and the peasant movement in Zhejiang.

The "Sparks Over Qiantang" exhibition area greets visitors with a group of four life-sized wax sculptures. It reconstructs the scene of the founding of the CCP Hangzhou Branch in early September 1922. The four figures—Mei Kun, founder of the Hangzhou Party group; Yu Shude, the branch secretary; and members Jin Fozhuang and Shen Gancheng—are rendered with striking realism. The photo wall in the exhibition area consists of 25 LCD screens that rotate to display brief biographies of key figures in Zhejiang’s Communist history during the New Democratic Revolution period. It also highlights how the Hangzhou Party group quickly became the central force leading the revolution in Zhejiang Province and eventually expanded its influence throughout the province.

The "Surging Tides Over Qiantang" exhibition area features a seamless arrangement of 116 LCD displays that together recreate the rising tides of the Qiantang River, symbolizing the unstoppable momentum of the Hangzhou Party group’s strength, much like the surging waters of the Qiantang. It also presents information on the nine (acting) secretaries of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee who sacrificed their lives during the New Democratic Revolution, as well as the establishment of the first communist organizations across the province.

In the backyard of the memorial hall, there is a large three-dimensional relief wall themed “Tides Surging Over Qiantang.” The sculpture uses a waving party flag as its backdrop. From left to right, it features shallow reliefs depicting the site of the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Red Boat on South Lake, and the Hangzhou Liberation Monument. In high relief, it portrays the luminous images of Xu Meikun, founder of the CCP Hangzhou Branch, along with branch members Yu Shude, Jin Fozhuang, and Shen Gancheng, all “bravely riding the tide.” In front of the relief wall is a “Party Oath Area,” where new party members take solemn oaths, experiencing a moment of reverence and sacredness. The theater room is a small cinema that accommodates 20 to 30 people, fully equipped with a projector, screen, and seating. It continuously screens the documentary “Tides Rising Over Qiantang,” which details the historical event in early September 1922 when, under the organization of Xu Meikun, Secretary of the Shanghai Local Committee and Jiangsu-Zhejiang Regional Executive Committee of the CCP, Zhejiang’s first local communist organization—the CCP Hangzhou Branch—was officially established at No. 3 Pishi Lane. This serves as an ideal classroom for Party history education, where visitors can appreciate red-themed films.

The "Qiantang Today" exhibition area mainly reflects the glorious achievements of Hangzhou’s economic and social development and Party construction since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, highlighting the developmental outcomes of the city’s eleven Five-Year Plans. More than sixty years have passed since the liberation of Hangzhou on May 3, 1949. Under the leadership of the municipal Party committee and government, the people of Hangzhou have gradually transformed the once impoverished and weak old city into a new Hangzhou that is prosperous, strong, democratic, harmonious, exquisite, and beautiful.
