Located at No. 27 Qingnian Road, Shangcheng District. The Hangzhou YMCA was initiated and founded by local Christian figures, with the motto “Not to be served, but to serve.” It once carried out activities such as public education and disaster relief, exerting a certain social influence. The existing building consists of a main structure and a bell tower, covering an area of 4,484.38 square meters. The main building was constructed in 1918 as a three-story Western-style house, with exposed brick exterior walls, arched windows, and arcaded colonnades on both the first and second floors. The bell tower was built in 1919, featuring a semi-circular arched entrance, and houses a large timekeeping bell weighing 1,200 kilograms. The architectural style and layout of the YMCA building are also quite rare among similar surviving structures in Europe and America.
