Birthplace of the First Local Organization of the Communist Party of China in Zhejiang Province

The Birthplace of the First Local Organization of the Communist Party of China in Zhejiang Province is a classic red tourism attraction.

In September 1922, the first local organization of the Communist Party of China in Zhejiang Province — the Hangzhou Party Group — was established at No. 3 Pishi Lane, marking the ignition of a new spark of proletarian revolution in the province — in Hangzhou. The original No. 3 Pishi Lane has been demolished for various reasons, and the “Xiangyi Building” now stands in its place. Today, you can see a memorial plaque on the east wall of the Xiangyi Building at the entrance to Pishi Lane on Jiefang Road in Hangzhou, inscribed with “Birthplace of the First Local Organization of the Communist Party of China in Zhejiang Province — the Hangzhou Party Group.”

This is one of the most iconic “red resources” in Zhejiang Province and an extremely educational “red base.” The Shangcheng District Committee and District Government of Hangzhou decided to establish a municipal-level Party building education base within the Xiaoying Subdistrict, at No. 57 Xiaoying Lane (opposite the Memorial Hall for Chairman Mao’s Visit to Xiaoying Lane), covering an area of 450 square meters. It is tentatively named “Qiantang Spark” — the Memorial Hall of the First Group of Zhejiang Province.

Xiaoying Lane Community: Bordered by East River to the east, Middle River to the west, Jiefang Road to the south, and Qingyin Street to the north, Xiaoying Lane Community covers an area of approximately 0.3 square kilometers and has over 3,600 households.
