Ningbo Jiulong Lake Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Jiulong Lake Scenic Area is located within Jiulonghu Town in the northwest of Zhenhai District, Ningbo City. It is 19 kilometers from downtown Zhenhai and 18 kilometers from downtown Ningbo, covering a total area of 36 square kilometers. The Zhenhai Jiulong Lake Scenic Area is one of the Top Ten New Scenic Spots in Ningbo. The tourist area features mid-level hilly terrain, surrounded by mountains on three sides. Nestled among the mountain ranges are four major lakes—Jiulong Lake, Fenghuang Lake, Moon Lake, and Swan Lake—with a total water area of 2 square kilometers. The entire scenic area boasts an outstanding natural ecological environment and profound historical and cultural heritage.

Jiulong Lake is an artificial lake, originally called Shizi Road Reservoir. It was first built in 1977, spanning an area of 20 Chinese miles (approximately 10 kilometers in diameter) with a water capacity of over 20 million cubic meters. Located in the northeastern part of Zhenhai District, Ningbo City, visitors can take a bus headed toward Luotuo and get off at Hetou. Soon after, you’ll see a grand stone archway-style welcome gate. Walk uphill, and the landscape of Jiulong Lake unfolds before you: embraced by rolling hills and layered peaks, with vast, rippling blue waters where lake and mountain scenery blend in harmony. At times, light mist drifts above the landscape, shrouding the hills in a hazy veil; at other times, the mist clears to reveal a cloudless blue sky. On the eastern side of the lake, a cluster of buildings with red tiles and white walls forms the Spanish villa-style Jiulong Mountain Villa, adding even more beauty to Jiulong Lake.

The Jiulongyuan Scenic Area, themed around pristine natural landscapes, consists of more than ten attractions including “One Trace, Two Pools, Three Rocks, Four Waterfalls,” with a total trail length of 2.5 kilometers. The area features attractions such as the “Yuan” cliff carving, Jiulongyuan Monument Archway, Taiping Bridge, Jiulong Four-Tiered Waterfall, Upper and Lower Yaochi (Jade Pools), Dragon Vein, Divine Bell Rock, Immortal’s Ancient Path, Golden Toad Listening to Buddha, Diamond Platform, and Lower Buddha’s Trace.
