The most beautiful road in Korea – couples must visit the “Ten-Mile Cherry Blossom Road” to propose under its white floral tunnel

South Korea’s Kweather recently released this year’s cherry blossom front, predicting that the 2017 cherry blossom season will arrive 2–5 days earlier than usual. On March 21, the southernmost island of Jeju was already adorned with blooming cherry blossoms. However, the Korea Tourism Organization notes that aside from the famous Jinhae cherry blossoms celebrated during the “Gyeonghwa Naval Port Festival,” the “Ten-Mile Cherry Blossom Road” near Busan in South Gyeongsang Province is hailed as the most beautiful road in all of Korea. Anyone planning to view cherry blossoms in Korea absolutely shouldn’t miss this spot!

Ten-Mile Cherry Blossom Road (Maegung ???)Located in Hadong County, South Gyeongsang Province, along the roadside stretching two miles from Hwamun Market to Ssanggyo, two rows of cherry blossom trees extend toward the center of the road, hence earning the name “Ten-Mile Cherry Blossom Road.” Every year in March and April, when the white cherry blossoms are in full bloom, they create a tunnel-like canopy of snowy blossoms. The sparkling waters of the Gamcheon River flow gently by, casting beautiful reflections on the surface — a picture-perfect scene. It is said that couples who walk hand-in-hand through this road together will enjoy a harmonious and long-lasting marriage, which has also earned it the lovely nickname of the “Wedding Road.”

In addition to the Ten-Mile Cherry Blossom Road, Daegu in the same Yeongnam region hosts South Korea’s only nighttime cherry blossom festival — the E WORLD Starlight Cherry Blossom Festival. This year’s E WORLD Starlight Cherry Blossom Festival will be held from March 25 to April 9. The festival combines the cherry blossom season with a light show, allowing visitors to enjoy stunning views both day and night.
