When thinking of the beautiful scenery of cherry blossoms in spring, Japan often comes to mind. However, besides Japan, there are many other countries where you can find stunning cherry blossom spots. Here's a list of the world’s top 10 most beautiful cherry blossom spots. Don’t miss this spring-limited view—pack your bags and go now.

● United States Washington, D.C.

Washington, D.C. is home to nearly 7,000 cherry trees. In 1912, Tokyo Mayor Yukio Ozaki gifted 3,000 cherry trees to the city to foster friendly relations between the two nations. By 1965, Japan donated another 3,800 trees, transforming the city’s lakesides into a pink, blossom-draped wonderland every spring. Most of the 7,000 trees are Yoshino cherry trees, which differ slightly from those commonly seen in Taiwan—D.C.’s Yoshinos are white with a hint of pink, appearing even more delicate and fresh under the sunlight.

● United States New York

Brooklyn Botanic Garden and Central Park are among the best places to enjoy cherry blossoms in New York City. Although cherry blossoms can be spotted all over the city, visiting Brooklyn in spring offers the added charm of various Japanese cultural events and people dressed in traditional attire.

● Germany Bonn

Bonn, once the capital of West Germany before reunification and a political hub until just over a decade ago, is also the hometown of composer Ludwig van Beethoven. The city is rich in culture and history. When visiting Bonn in spring, take a stroll along the Rhine River and linger on Heerstraße. Usually just an ordinary street, Heerstraße transforms into a breathtaking cherry blossom avenue in March and April.

● South Korea Jinhae

South Korea’s most iconic cherry blossom festival, the Jinhae Gunhangje Festival, is held for about 10 days around early April, when the blossoms are in full bloom. The event takes place mainly in Jinhae District, Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province. The festival honors Admiral Yi Sun-sin, a national hero. Before 1945, Jinhae served as a Japanese naval base and is now a key military site for South Korea. The cherry trees were planted during the Japanese occupation, later cut down, and then replanted to become what they are today.

● Japan – Tokyo – Chidorigafuchi

Chidorigafuchi is arguably the most breathtaking cherry blossom spot in all of Tokyo. Visitors can admire the blooming flowers and even take a boat ride through the petals. Along the walking path in Chidorigafuchi, there are about 80 tall, lush Somei Yoshino cherry trees. The best time to visit is from late March to early April. Renting a boat here lets you fully experience the romance of rowing through falling blossoms. You can either stroll along the path, feeling petals drift down from above, or glide through the canal in a hand-pulled boat, admiring the blossoms from the water’s surface.

● Japan Tokyo Aoyama Cemetery

Located near Roppongi Hills, Aoyama Cemetery is a historic graveyard with over a century of history. Far from being eerie or scary under government management, this cemetery becomes a popular spot for locals to enjoy cherry blossoms in spring. The cemetery is the final resting place of famous Japanese writer Ozaki Kōyō and Hachikō, the loyal dog of Shibuya. When spring arrives, the cemetery is adorned with beautiful cherry blossoms, creating a lively pink spectacle. The various gravestones gain an unusual and aesthetic charm against the backdrop of the blossoms.
