University of Nottingham Ningbo China
The University of Nottingham Ningbo China (The University of Nottingham Ningbo China) is located in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province. It is an independent legal entity with its own campus, jointly established by the University of Nottingham UK and Zhejiang Wanli University with approval from the Chinese Ministry of Education. It is a member of the Alliance of Chinese-Foreign Cooperative Universities.
The university was established in 2004. At its inauguration, General Secretary Xi Jinping remarked: "The founding of the University of Nottingham Ningbo China pioneers the integration of China’s higher education with high-quality international educational resources, creating a brand-new model for Chinese education to go global."
On May 20, 2005, the Ministry of Education officially approved the establishment of the University of Nottingham Ningbo China; in December 2008, it was authorized by the Ministry to offer doctoral programs.
As of 2015, the university covers an area of 887 acres, with a built-up area of over 200,000 square meters, enrolling more than 6,000 students and employing over 600 faculty and staff members. It comprises 15 schools and offers 28 undergraduate majors and 19 master's programs.
