Carrying only a backpack and a guitar, a 25-year-old Russian man traveled alone in China as a backpacker. On July 29, he was seen walking on the highway, attempting to get from Ningbo to Wenzhou. The Hengjie Police Station of Yinzhou received a report and, after understanding his situation, sent the Russian man to the train station and bought him a ticket to Wenzhou.

At around 1:30 pm that day, members of the public spotted a foreign young man walking on the highway and reported it to the highway police. The officers arrived and took the man away from the Hengjie Ring Expressway toll station. As he could not speak Chinese and only knew a little English, communication was difficult, so the highway police contacted the Hengjie Police Station.

When the officers arrived, they found the foreign young man carrying only a backpack and a guitar, and took him back to the police station. Upon checking his passport, they found that he was a Russian named "KUTUMOV," 25 years old, who had entered China from Heilongjiang on July 16.

Through simple English conversation, the officers learned that this was the man's first time backpacking and traveling alone in China. Since entering from the northeast, he had been heading south, traveling either on foot or by hitchhiking. The officers speculated that many kind-hearted people must have helped him along the way, as his diary had Chinese characters written on it saying, “I have no money and need help.”

The man said he only had enough money left for food. He had just visited Cixi and his next destination was Wenzhou. As he couldn’t find a ride, he decided to walk along the highway to Wenzhou.

However, walking on the highway is very dangerous. At around 3:30 pm that day, the officers drove the Russian man to the train station and bought him a train ticket to Wenzhou departing at 5:15 pm. After entering the waiting hall, the man indicated he could understand the train information displayed on the electronic board. Upon parting, he repeatedly said “THANK YOU” to express his gratitude to the officers.
