Daxie Island
Daxie Island is a small island located on the shores of the East China Sea. In ancient times, the island was covered with lush vegetation, and from afar, it resembled an elegant waterside pavilion—hence the name “Daxie.”
The island covers an area of approximately 30.84 square kilometers, with 16.6 square kilometers of flat land (including 2.5 square kilometers of tidal flats), making up 53.7% of the total. It is surrounded by thirteen smaller islands (around 5 square kilometers in total). The island enjoys a subtropical monsoon climate, characterized by warm winters and cool summers.
Daxie Island is located near Beilun, Ningbo, and is a relatively small island. It has only recently been developed, yet it is rich with island charm—from seafood markets and Haigang Road to seaside hotels and ocean-view resorts. Despite having streets and bustling areas, the place remains free from the noise of traffic, offering fresh air. The mountains are not high but are often shrouded in misty clouds, forming overlapping peaks and distant ranges that appear and disappear like a natural ink-wash painting. The island also boasts abundant wind energy resources, with rows of wind turbines atop the hills.
