Southern Song Dynasty Stone Carving Museum
The park covers an area of 6.7 hectares, with a total investment of over 30 million yuan. The stone carvings in the park are mainly from the Southern Song Dynasty, along with works from the Ming and Qing Dynasties, totaling more than 200 pieces. While China has many stone carving works, most primarily depict Buddhist grottoes and imperial mausoleums — the Southern Song Dynasty is the exception. Surprisingly, none of the grand imperial stone carvings from the Southern Song Dynasty have representative pieces, yet numerous tomb path carvings were discovered in the burial sites of the four most important prime ministers of the Southern Song. These carvings not only fill the gap in the history of stone carving art during the Southern Song period, but also represent the largest scale, finest craftsmanship, and most concentrated distribution of such works in China. As you enter the park, the first things you see are five stone carvings: civil officials, military generals, crouching tigers, standing horses, and kneeling sheep. These five carvings symbolize “loyalty, bravery, chastity, righteousness, and filial piety,” recreating the historical and cultural landscape of the Southern Song Dynasty.

With the completion of the Hangzhou Bay Cross-sea Bridge in 2008, Ningbo entered a two-hour traffic circle centered around Shanghai. The town is home to Dongqian Lake, which was praised by Mr. Guo Moruo as having “the charm of West Lake and…” More details about Dongqianhu Town ++
