Qianshuiwan Farmstead Rural Fun World
Using lights as a medium to convey warmth, the first large-scale art lantern festival in Yinzhou, Qianshuiwan—“Gardens Aglow with Lights, A Rural Charm”—jointly created by Ningbo Qianshuiwan Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. and Zigong Huajing Lantern Culture Communication Co., Ltd., renowned as the “No.1 Lanterns in the World,” will be held from September 18, 2013 to October 31, 2013 at Yinzhou Qianshuiwan Rural Fun World.
The first large-scale art lantern festival in Yinzhou Qianshuiwan is a top-tier showcase of traditional events, a visually stunning spectacle that has captured the city’s attention, and also a pinnacle collaboration in tourism culture. Lanterns, as a uniquely Chinese cultural element, carry deep ethnic significance. The lantern displays at this Qianshuiwan festival all come from Zigong, a place celebrated as home to the “No.1 Lanterns in the World.” As early as the Tang and Song dynasties, Zigong had the custom of admiring lanterns during the New Year, which further evolved into various lantern festivals during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Zigong lantern festivals are known for their grand and spectacular scale, ingenious design, exquisite craftsmanship, and the magical blend of lights and scenery with layered visual depth. They are also hailed as “high-taste art,” “flowing cultural tourism resources,” and “the pride of traditional ethnic culture,” enjoying widespread grassroots popularity and deep public affection. This year’s festival features ambitious creativity, grand production, interactive elements between people and lights, and integrates “form, color, sound, light, motion, and performance.” Centered around the themes of “mountains and waters as the foundation, culture as the soul, harmony between ancient and modern, and an ecological garden,” the festival highlights Chinese cultural elements and connects urban ecology, economy, culture, society, and leisure functions. Designed to captivate with unique features and impress with fresh concepts, it makes bold breakthroughs in style, color schemes, and materials to maximize artistic expression, emotional impact, and visual appeal. With a rich and fitting selection of themes, the festival greatly enriches its cultural depth, vividly reflecting the fusion of tradition and modernity, the combination of traditional artistry with modern technology, a blend of refinement and splendor, and a union of enjoyment and culture. It presents a series of scroll-like scenes of Jiangnan culture, human landscapes, and local customs, conveying a festive atmosphere full of harmony, warmth, liveliness, joy, and peace, creating a beautiful highlight for Yinzhou. The lantern festival is divided into three themed zones: “Home Sweet Home – Mid-Autumn Reunion,” “Prosperous China – National Day Delight,” and “Rural Charm – Leisurely Qianshuiwan.” Each zone has a distinctive style, cleverly blending traditional Chinese festivals with the charm of Qianshuiwan Farmstead. This rare lantern spectacle is not to be missed.
The overall design of the lantern displays achieves new breakthroughs in content, themes, and materials, with higher cultural value and broader historical depth. Numerous elements of Chinese culture, historical allusions, fables, and myths—some familiar, some vaguely recognizable, others rarely seen—transcend time and space, allowing audiences to gain both sensory and intellectual understanding of traditional Chinese culture while enjoying the lanterns.
