Ningbo Dameishan

Dameishan, located within Hengxi Town, Yinzhou District, Ningbo, Zhejiang, stands at an elevation of nearly 600 meters and belongs to the Tiantai Mountain Range. Lush and densely forested year-round, it boasts beautiful scenery. Part of Yinnan Mountainous Area, it lies adjacent to the Dongqian Lake Scenic Area, borders Fenghua City, and is approximately 20 kilometers from downtown Ningbo.

Blessed with stunning landscapes, Dameishan has been one of Ningbo’s renowned scenic spots since ancient times. Before the Tang and Song dynasties, Hengxi Town was a major route leading to southern Zhejiang and was once a bustling hub in history. Places around Dameishan that include “Mei” (plum) in their names include: Meifu, Meixi, Meiling, Meifeng, and Meilong.

The immortal Zen of Mei Fu on Dameishan, the Zen style of Fa Chang at Dameishan, and the Baizhang Monastic Rules by Huihai have attracted scholars and poets throughout the ages, drawing seekers of enlightenment and nature enthusiasts to explore its spiritual essence.
