The Taogong Mountain Scenic Area faces the newly developed Dongqian Lake area across the lake and serves as an extension of the new city’s axis. Covering an area of 1.2 square kilometers, the scenic spot showcases the eternal themes of wealth and love through its long history, ancient architecture, mythical legends, rich folk customs, and picturesque lakeside landscapes where mountains meet water.

The planning centers around the magical legend of Taogong's wealth and depicts his story of abandoning politics to pursue commerce. It highlights the theme of immense wealth through the concept of “gathering qi and attracting fortune like a crouching ox.” Through various forms such as a Celebrity Hometown Garden, the Path of Wealth, the Tower of Fortune, and the Treasure Hunt Garden, it narrates the stories of globally renowned wealthy merchants originally from Ningbo who started from humble beginnings. This serves to promote the modern theme of wealth as “a prosperous nation brings happiness to its people.” The Taogong Mountain Scenic Area will provide a space for people to explore history, discuss the present, and envision the future.

The planning follows the beautiful love legend of Xi Shi and Fan Li as its main thread, incorporating world-famous love stories and myths from ancient and modern times, both in China and abroad. Through sculptures, paintings, architectural elements, and other artistic forms, it expresses the timeless theme that “true lovers will eventually be together.” It also features spaces such as the Love Storm Forest, the Couple’s Adventure World, and a Wedding Ceremony Theater, offering visitors a delightful place to celebrate love, kinship, and friendship.

Taogong Old Street benefits from its natural surroundings, harmoniously nestled against the hills and embracing the water. Shaped by the trials of time, it has developed a distinctive form. Leaning on the mountain, the buildings follow the terrain’s contours, creating a dynamic vertical space with varied heights. Benefiting from the nearby water, structures are built along the lake, laid out simply and comfortably, resulting in intimate and pleasant spatial proportions. Through careful planning and integration, and by incorporating the themes of wealth and love, the old street is imbued with new cultural significance, undoubtedly adding endless charm to Taogong Old Street. It will stand as a unique gem of the Dongqian Lake Scenic Area, presented to the world.

Dongqian Lake Town: Located in the southeastern suburbs of Ningbo City, Dongqian Lake Town is embraced by rolling, picturesque green mountains.
