The Hundred-Zhang Waterfall is located in Wencheng County, Wenzhou City, the hometown of Liu Ji. Renowned for its towering grandeur, it is hailed as “China’s Highest Waterfall.” The waterfall gathers water from the high-altitude terraces of Nantian, known as the “Sixth Blessed Land under Heaven,” where powerful torrents rush down the cliffs year-round, forming a spectacular stepped waterfall complex with a total drop of 287 meters, characterized by the “Majesty of the First Fall, the Wonder of the Second Fall, and the Seclusion of the Third Fall.” Among them, the First Fall is the most breathtaking, standing 207 meters high and 51 meters wide, with sheer cliffs on three sides and a deep, yawning valley below. From the sky above, three thousand silver ribbons of water cascade down, while a rainbow bridge seems to float on the cliff face. The clash of water against rock roars like thunder from a thousand drums, and the surging torrent seems to swallow the surrounding mountains. Just being near it is an awe-inspiring experience. The Second and Third Falls each have their own unique charm. In ancient times, it was said that the Second Fall was a hundred zhang deep, and the Third Fall a hundred zhang wide. A dreamlike water curtain cave stretches across the cascading falls, a picturesque colorful forest mirrors the clear pools nearby, giant rocks of various shapes dot the serene valley, and dragon-and-phoenix-like branching streams wind through the hills. This rare, mysterious wonderland is sure to leave visitors spellbound.
