King Goujian's Terrace (King Goujian's Hall)

King Goujian's Terrace is located at the southeastern foot of Fushan Mountain in the city of Shaoxing, Zhejiang Province. It is said to be the place where King Goujian of Yue reviewed his troops. Later generations built it in his memory. It was first constructed in the 15th year of the Jiading era during the Song Dynasty. The structure was bombed during the Anti-Japanese War and was rebuilt in 1981. King Goujian's Terrace is built against the mountain, resplendent and magnificent, with soaring upturned eaves, red beams, and painted rafters, exuding an air of simple and elegant national character. In front of the terrace, on the eastern and western sides, are displayed petrified cypress and pine trees, which are said to have been tributes from foreign lands. At the center of the main hall are three stone-carved statues: King Goujian of Yue, official Wen Zhong, and Fan Li. Above them hangs a plaque inscribed with the words "Enduring Hardship to Avenge the Humiliation."
