Fusheng Kiln Site
The Fusheng Kiln Site is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.
The Fusheng Kiln Site is located in Changzhu Garden, Gualing, about 100 meters from Nijia Lane in Fusheng Town.
The site covers an area of approximately 4,000 square meters, where two parallel dragon kilns aligned north-south have been discovered. Trial excavations conducted in 1978 uncovered a Warring States period dragon kiln, the front part of which had been damaged, with a remaining length of about 6 meters and a kiln bed width of 2.4 meters. The cultural layer consists of a mixed deposit of primitive celadon and stamped hard pottery, with remnants of both found on the kiln floor, indicating that the kiln produced both types of ware. The primitive celadon includes items such as bowls, plates, and saucers, characterized by dense, grayish-white clay bodies and green glaze. During stacking firing, flat round spacer beads were used. The stamped hard pottery includes jars and pots, with dark purple or dark gray bodies adorned with decorative patterns such as rice sieve motifs, fir leaf patterns, and meander patterns.
This kiln site provides important physical evidence for the study of China's ceramic production industry, particularly the early development of porcelain making in the Shaoxing region. In 2006, the Fusheng Kiln Site, as an ancient site dating from the Zhou to the Warring States period, was included in the sixth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units by the State Council.
