Designed with the layout of a Jiangnan-style garden, it features lush trees and fragrant flowers in an elegant setting, perfect for leisure.

Attraction Introduction

Located in the Yuewangcheng Historical and Cultural Protection Zone on the west side of Shaoxing’s ancient city, Shaoxing Museum may not be large in scale but offers fairly rich content. If you wish to gain a general understanding of Shaoxing’s historical development, spending about an hour here will be highly rewarding.

The main exhibition hall of the museum takes its architectural design from the bronze musicians’ house unearthed in Shaoxing. Other sections feature green vegetation flat roofs, with exterior walls clad in bluestone from Shaoxing’s East Lake. In front of the square stands a bronze ancient sword sculpture, serving as an ideal backdrop for photos and rich in cultural meaning. The permanent exhibitions inside are divided into sections such as The Rise of Great Yue, Building the Capital, and Ritual Music Civilizing the People. Most of the displayed artifacts date back to the Wu and Yue periods, including a replica of the Sword of King Goujian of Yue, vividly narrating the history of Yuezhou.

The museum offers paid professional guided tours at approximately 50 RMB per session, lasting around 45 minutes. Additionally, by following the museum’s official WeChat account and entering the artifact number, you can directly access audio introductions and visual materials for the exhibits — a very convenient feature.

Special Tips

1. The museum is not far from Fushan Mountain, and you might consider visiting both sites together.

2. Audio guides are available for rent at 10 RMB per unit, with a deposit of 100 RMB.
