The moat renovation project was thus awarded the “China Habitat Environment Example Award.” The scenic spots along the moat are connected by water and surrounded by greenery. A boat ride offers views of the newly built eight garden landscapes: Jishan Garden, Jianshui Garden, Water Control Square, West Garden, Baihua Garden, Ying’en Gate, Heqing Garden, and Dusi Gate, all like dazzling pearls inlaid around the ancient city, presenting an overwhelming spectacle.

The moat of Shaoxing was first dug in 490 BC when King Goujian established the capital. Connected to rivers and lakes, it boasts a long history and profound culture. The scenic spots along the moat are connected by water and surrounded by greenery. "Splendid Shaoxing" is a high-tech large-scale variety show specially created for Shaoxing’s moat light show. The entire performance centers on the ancient city of Shaoxing’s 2,500-year history and is divided into four chapters: “The Brave Shaoxing,” “The Wise Shaoxing,” “The Exquisite Shaoxing,” and “The Emotional Shaoxing.” With ingenious use of sound, light, electricity, water, fire, fog, and other elements, it features ultra-wide LED screens, giant water curtains, full-color lasers, and hundreds of fountain jets.
