Shaoxing Xiyuan Garden

Category: Tourist Attractions 👁 100 views
One of the Eight Great Gardens of Shaoxing. Xiyuan Garden, located at the western foot of Longshan (also known as Fushan), hence the name "Xiyuan" (West Garden). It is a beautifully landscaped garden. During the Five Dynasties period, Qian Liu established the Wuyue Kingdom, with its capital in Lin'an, and designated Yuezhou as the Eastern Prefecture. He had water channels dug here and built a garden as a pleasure ground for the imperial harem. The garden features a harmonious blend of water and hills, offering a serene and picturesque view. In front of the hall lies a pool of clear blue water; sitting on the stones by the small lake, with a gentle breeze blowing and ripples dancing on the water’s surface—this is a classic scene of the Jiangnan region, where pavilions, towers, winding corridors, and gates create an atmosphere of refined elegance.
