Ancient Cultural Site of Paogu
The Ancient Cultural Site of Paogu is a cultural relic protection unit of Yuecheng District.
The Ancient Cultural Site of Paogu is located to the west of Ligushe Village, Paogu Township, Shaoxing, and belongs to late Warring States period remains. The site covers an area of about 10,000 square meters. In 1981 and 1986, the Zhejiang Provincial Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology and the Shaoxing County Cultural Relics Management Office conducted excavations on two separate occasions. The cultural layer is 40 to 60 centimeters thick, and over 200 artifacts have been unearthed, including pottery, proto-porcelain, a small number of bronze ware, and stone tools. Most are pottery items; the stone tools include knives and whetstones, found in very limited quantities. In addition, a small number of roof tiles and semicircular tube tiles were excavated, with their surfaces featuring interlaced cord patterns. A small quantity of rice grains, melon seeds, and walnut shell fragments were also found. It is a county-level cultural relic protection unit.
