Guide: It is a distinctive scenic area within the Keqin Scenic Zone, located in Xilu Village, Hutang Town, Shaoxing County. The area boasts beautiful scenery, a pleasant environment, lush vegetation, and is characterized by its vast thousand-year-old osmanthus groves. Backed by ancient dwellings, it serves as an ideal leisure and sightseeing destination that blends religious and folk culture. Introduction: The osmanthus groves in the Fragrant Forest area are considered the finest in southern China. The osmanthus trees here are long-lived, widely spread, and have large canopies, with varieties including Golden Osmanthus, Silver Osmanthus, and Red Osmanthus. The existing century-old tree clusters have canopies with diameters of over 10 meters, which is truly rare in China. Hidden within Baolin Mountain are ancient temple complexes where the sounds of Buddhist chants linger, accompanied by morning bells and evening drums. The eminent master Mican once resided and passed away here, leaving behind more than 200 relics, making it widely renowned in the Buddhist community. Historically, many notable scholars and literati have visited this place, leaving behind numerous poems, such as those by the Southern Song poet Lu You, the Ming scholar Zhang Dai, and the modern Buddhist master Nan Huai-Chin.

Special Note: This is a newly developed attraction. If you’re not in a hurry, you can spend a whole day here to your heart’s content. Each spot is highly recommended—just see how much energy and time you have. Bring plenty of film, and don’t forget disposable tablecloths so you can enjoy a nice nap under the osmanthus trees. Dining / Accommodation / Shopping: Shopping: There are many osmanthus-themed food products—don’t get overwhelmed by the choices. Go ahead and carry back a big bag of osmanthus in various colors; you can use them for tea or sachets, or just experiment however you like. Transportation: From Shaoxing Railway Station, take Bus 5 and get off at Keqiao Xiaoma Road Station, then transfer to Bus 604 to reach the Daxianglin Scenic Area; or take Bus 16 directly from the South Gate, which takes about half an hour. There is also a daily tourist shuttle bus from Wushan Square in Hangzhou at 8:20 AM.
