Taiping Bridge is a long bridge that combines a stone arch bridge with a stone beam bridge. Originally built in the 48th year of the Wanli reign during the Ming Dynasty (1620) and reconstructed in the 8th year of the Xianfeng reign of the Qing Dynasty (1858), it stretches 40 meters in total length. The structure consists of one arch span and eight beam spans. The arched section rises prominently, with a clear span of 8.4 meters and a width of 3.5 meters. The arch is constructed using a longitudinal jointed and segmented technique, and stone slab towpaths are laid along the inner sides of the arch bases. Pedestrians walk on the bridge above while boats pass beneath with tow ropes, resembling an ancient overpass. Stone steps are laid on both the south and north sides of the bridge, leading down to platforms. The southern end splits into east and west descents via the platform. The northern side of the arch bridge connects to the beam bridge, where the three southernmost spans are higher and gradually descend, each with a span of about 4.8 meters. The entire bridge features varying heights and levels, resembling a dragon's head reaching toward the sky and undulating over the water. The design accommodates large vessels passing through the arch while allowing smaller roofed wooden boats to use the lower beam spans for efficient traffic flow — a unique multi-functional form for bridges in river-network regions.

Taiping Bridge is not only uniquely shaped but also features exquisitely crafted decorative art. At the top of the bridge, each of the four ornamental columns is carved with a crouching lion — the male lion stands atop a embroidered ball while the female cradles her cub, exuding vigor, strength, and majesty. In addition, the columns and railings along both sides of the bridge slopes are adorned with decorative patterns including lotus flowers, auspicious blooms, as well as motifs representing the four arts: music, chess, calligraphy, and painting. Since 1991, multiple maintenance efforts have been carried out on the piers of the first and second beam bridges north of the arch.

It was designated as a Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit of Zhejiang Province in 1989.
