Mirror Lake Bay
The Mirror Lake Bay scenic area is a cultural square designed with a square exterior and a circular interior, symbolizing the traditional Chinese philosophy of "the round sky and the square earth." At the center of the square stands a stone-carved head sculpture with a white front and a black back—the white representing the inherent goodness of human nature, and the black symbolizing its inherent evil.
The three 6-meter-tall marble statues depict Confucius, Laozi, and Sakyamuni, symbolizing the convergence of Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism. Surrounding them are various forms of flowing water—gushing, cascading downward, meandering, and dripping—which flow through winding streams into the “Confluence Pool.” This area is called “Three Teachings, One Origin,” embodying the long-standing essence of traditional Chinese culture centered on humanity.
Complementing the rugged rocky landscape, the most delightful remnants of quarrying are the shimmering pools of dark green water. If the scattered patches of emerald ponds in the Stone Buddha Scenic Area resemble scattered pearls, then the adjacent Mirror Lake Bay is a vast expanse of shimmering water. The Mirror Lake Bay scenic area showcases the charm of Shaoxing’s water town scenery and local customs. Attractions such as Three Teachings, One Origin, Children’s World, Lovers’ Valley, the Stage, Bamboo & Stone Cottage, Apricot Blossom Slope, and Yue Women’s Pool will transport you into a world full of delight. Together with the neighboring Stone Buddha Scenic Area, they form the unique and magical water-and-stone landscape that is exclusive to Keqin.
