Yuyangyucha Lake Bishitang

Yuyangyucha Lake Bishitang is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Era: Ming to Qing Dynasty

Address: Located in Lin Tou Village, Qi Xian Town, Shaoxing County (now Shaoxing District), Shaoxing City, Zhejiang Province, from the north end to Ping Feng Wan in Qili Jiang Village

Yuyangyucha Lake is roughly rectangular in shape, approximately 1 km long from north to south, about 2 km wide from east to west, with a water surface area of 2.4 square kilometers, making it the largest freshwater lake on the Shaoxing Plain. The lake borders over 20 villages.

A 3.5-kilometer-long bluestone Bishitang (sheltering embankment) was built in the lake. The Bishitang served as a passage for cross-lake transportation and a shelter for boats to avoid wind and waves. Currently, the northern 1.5-km section remains surrounded by water on both sides, while the southern 2-km section became single-sided due to land reclamation from the lake during the 1970s. The Bishitang is about 2.3 meters wide, constructed with horizontally laid stone slabs, paved with large flagstones as the walkway, and features five stone bridges and one stone pavilion.

It was listed as a Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit on December 12, 1989, and included in the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units in May 2013.
