Tongkang Green Forest Bamboo Sea Scenic Area in Keqiao
The Tongkang Green Forest Bamboo Sea Scenic Area in Keqiao is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.
The Tongkang Green Forest Bamboo Sea Agricultural Sightseeing Park is located in the southern part of Shaoxing County, more than 20 kilometers from downtown Shaoxing. It is adjacent to scenic spots such as Lanting and Huji Lake, and is a featured forestry base in Zhejiang Province. It is a large-scale leisure farm integrating bamboo shoot digging all year round, recreational activities, cultural landscapes, catering, accommodation, and sightseeing, covering an area of over 3,000 acres, and was developed and constructed by Tongkang Village, Pingshui Town, Shaoxing County.
The farm is surrounded by mountains, with fresh air and vast bamboo forests covering tens of thousands of acres, truly a sea of bamboos, offering spectacular scenery. Here, you can fully enjoy the endless joy brought by nature; you can see natural landscapes such as Chessboard Rock, Eagle Pecking Cliff, and Golden Ox Cave; here, you can stay in farmhouses, eat farm-style meals, engage in farm work, and enjoy the rural experience, making you reluctant to leave.
The Green Forest Bamboo Sea is a provincial-level modern forestry park. In 1997, with strong support from the forestry bureaus of Shaoxing City and Shaoxing County, aiming to increase the income of bamboo farmers, a comprehensive project for the transformation of bamboo shoots throughout the seasons was implemented, integrating science education, production, processing, sales, and social services, achieving excellent social and economic benefits. Currently, the park has received over 6.8 million yuan in investment, including the construction of one new bamboo shoot trading market and the development of a 3,000-acre bamboo shoot base for all seasons, including a 1,000-acre high-standard demonstration plot. Facilities such as roads, terraces, ditches, irrigation pumps, and soil-conserving terraces have been established, basically realizing the “six modernizations”: rationalized facilities, scaled operations, standardized techniques, socialized services, knowledgeable forest farmers, and integrated trade-industry-forestry.
The first phase of construction includes dining, accommodation, and parking areas at Tongkang Green Forest Bamboo Sea, covering over 800 square meters, with the dining area alone spanning more than 400 square meters and an investment of over 500,000 yuan. Relying on the modern forestry park, the farm focuses on the products and certification of Tongkang bamboo shoots all year round. Both product quality and environmental conditions have passed inspections by provincial authoritative departments. In April 2002, the “Tongkang” brand trademark for bamboo shoots all year round was registered, and in July 2005, it applied for recognition as a Shaoxing municipal-level famous trademark. In 2002, the Tongkang-brand bamboo shoots were rated as Zhejiang Green Agricultural Products by the Zhejiang Provincial Agricultural Products Certification Committee, and the Tongkang bamboo shoot base was recognized as a provincial forest food base and a municipal green agricultural product base by relevant provincial and municipal departments. In 2003 and 2004, the “Tongkang” brand bamboo shoots won the Gold Award for High-Quality Agricultural Products at the Zhejiang Provincial Agricultural Expo twice. With their superior quality, delicious taste, and attractive appearance, the Tongkang bamboo shoots are highly favored by consumers, resulting in high demand. In 2004, the “Tongkang” brand bamboo shoots also obtained the National Pollution-Free Agricultural Product Certificate. It was also named one of Zhejiang Province’s Top Ten Premium Bases. The construction of this park and farm has become another new highlight of eco-leisure agriculture that enhances agricultural efficiency and increases farmers’ income, promoting the development of prosperous villages, tertiary industry tourism.
In April 2005, the Tongkang Green Forest Bamboo Sea Farm was named by the Shaoxing County Tourism Bureau as one of the first five major leisure bases. The farm combines the theme of “exploring bamboo mountains, digging bamboo shoots, staying in bamboo houses, and enjoying bamboo charm” with cultural landscapes. Planned and under construction are: the Hometown of the Three Suns (former residences of the late “Mining and Industry Titan” Sun Yueqi, former Vice Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Sun Fuling, and renowned revolutionary writer Sun Xizhen, with remnants of the residences still preserved), a tradition of farming and studying, well-preserved Ming and Qing dynasty ancestral gate buildings, bamboo shoot digging all year round, bamboo forest oxygen bars, scenic corridors, fishing centers, camping and barbecues, bamboo crafts workshops, farm restaurants, shopping centers, and more.
Transportation to the Tongkang Green Forest Bamboo Sea rural area is convenient, with direct bus routes 146 and 156 from downtown Shaoxing.
