Shangwang – Yanli Rural Leisure Tourism Area
Shangwang – Yanli Rural Leisure Tourism Area is a national AA-level tourist attraction.
Shangwang (Yanli Rural Leisure Tourism Area) is located in Shangwang Village, Fusheng Town, Shaoxing County, approximately 15 kilometers from downtown Shaoxing. The scenic area consists of two parts: "Jiangnan Dazhai" and "Shangri-La." It features the best-preserved underground water conservancy project—the underground reservoir—and the Thirteen Rows, which were once a model for new rural construction across the province. It also has the former residence of educated youth from the Up to the Mountains and Down to the Countryside Movement—Former Residences of Educated Youth—and was visited by 86 heads of state and international friends. "Jiangnan Dazhai" takes you back to the red years and revives historical memories. "Shangri-La" Yanli Ancient Village integrates village culture with natural landscapes. Hidden atop high mountains and isolated from the world, it was called a "Shangri-La" by Yu Jiao of the Qing Dynasty. A quaint old street showcasing the ingenuity of ancient architecture, an untouched primitive village, the beauty of mountains, the liveliness of waters, the tranquility of the environment, and the simplicity of local customs. Activities such as tea picking, bamboo shoot digging, and fruit harvesting… allow you to experience the farming life of "mountains, rocks, fields, and soil—Yanli." Walking deeper along the village paths, you’ll find creeks, scattered rocks, farmlands, ancient trees, as well as naturally formed scenic spots like Guolao Hollow and the Jiujiling Reservoir Scenic Belt, and natural landscapes harmoniously combining form and spirit such as Eagle’s Beak and Chessboard Rock.
