Guazhu Lake
Guazhu Lake, formerly known as Qiaotang Bay, is located northeast of Keqiao China Textile City. It is wider in the south and narrower in the north, stretching about 2 kilometers from north to south and around 1 kilometer from east to west. Its shape resembles a melon, hence the name.
The current water area is 1.5 square kilometers, making it the third largest lake on the Shaoxing Plain. The surrounding area features ninety-eight wells, three temples, and four ancestral halls. It can be said that there are scenic views at every step and historical sites everywhere. Nearby lies Gansheng Lake, where Emperor Gaozong of the Song Dynasty took refuge during troubled times. It is connected to Guazhu Lake.
In the 1990s, the South Bank Park was built by Guazhu Lake. On this basis, four major parks were subsequently developed: the South Bank Entrance Plaza, West Bank, North Bank, and East Bank. Particularly, the South Bank Entrance Plaza Park and the West Bank Park have added great charm to Guazhu Lake.
The South Bank Entrance Plaza Park of Guazhu Lake is the mandatory gateway for visitors entering the Guazhu Lake scenic area and also serves as an important external showcase for both Guazhu Lake and the entire Keqiao region. The core of the entrance plaza is the Phase I project, which consists of attractions such as a circular plaza, a rainbow corridor, and an artificial stream. With the central plaza as the axis, moving clockwise from west to east, the landscape includes an autumn-shaded grove, a sparse woodland with wet flowers, a camellia mirror line, a bamboo grove resting area, and a magnolia-scented path. These elements make full use of the colors, flowering periods, and foliage of plants to create a spatially rich landscape.
