The Dongxi Stele Cluster

The Dongxi Stele Cluster is a cultural relic protection unit of Longwan District.

The Dongxi Stele Cluster is located in the ancestral hall of the Jiang family in Dongxi Village, Haicheng Subdistrict, Longwan District. It mainly includes: *The Tomb Epitaph of the Late Ming Dynasty’s Meritorious Gentleman Yi’an Jiang*, composed by Chen Wen of Luling, with the inscription title engraved by Xu Gong of the prefecture and the text written by Jin Pu of Siming; *The Tomb Epitaph of Madam Zhou, Wife of Jiang, from the Late Ming Dynasty*, composed by Lu Yu of Siming, with the inscription title engraved by Tie Huan of Yongdong and the text written by Zhao Ang of Guangyang; *The Imperial Tomb Epitaph of Instructor Heng’an Jiang Granted in the Hongzhi Era of the Ming Dynasty*, composed by Wang Zan of Yongjia, with the title and text inscribed by Li Jie; *The Record of the Ancestral Hall of Jiang Chiyá in the Hongzhi Era of the Ming Dynasty*, composed by Zhang Xuan Ying of the same prefecture, with the title and text inscribed by Jiang Ligang; *The Imperial Edict Stele for the Sacrificial Rites to Jiang Ligang*, inscribed by Emperor Xiaozong of the Ming Dynasty; *The Joint Burial Tomb Epitaph of Jiang Zhian in the Jiajing Era of the Ming Dynasty*, composed by Li Jie of Yongjia, with the title and text inscribed by Jiang Han. All the above stelae were relocated here from the tomb of Jiang Ligang at Nanbaxiang, with clear inscriptions. *The Record of the Ancestral Hall of Jiang Chiyá* and *The Imperial Edict Stele for the Sacrificial Rites to Jiang Ligang* feature vigorous and solemn brushwork, and are of high artistic and historical value.

Haicheng Subdistrict: The Haicheng Subdistrict Office is located in the southeastern part of Longwan District, Wenzhou City. To the southwest, it borders the Changqiao Office of Tangxia Town, Ruian City; to the southeast, it faces the sea; and to the northeast, it adjoins Tianhe Town. The area enjoys a superior geographical location and convenient transportation. With a crisscrossing network of rivers and abundant natural resources, it has long been known as the “Land of Fish and Rice” and is honored as the “Capital of China’s Hardware and Sanitary Ware.”

Haicheng was formerly Meitou Town of Ruian City and one of the eight towns in the old Tangxia area.
