Mysterious caves in Ha Long Bay where hermits dwell and martial artists train: Karst landform

In ancient Vietnamese tales, the peculiar cluster of islands scattered across Ha Long Bay is not just made of limestone—it's a place teeming with the wonders of life. Legend has it that a mother dragon once gracefully visited this area and ultimately held back the surging seawater, allowing generations of people to live in peace and prosperity. When the waters receded, the fragmented seabed rocks were strewn across the bay, forming the landscape we see today. For the Vietnamese, beyond a sense of reverence, this place is also a symbol of divine presence—a world brimming with myth and emotion.

Ha Long Bay belongs to Quang Ninh Province in Vietnam and is a vast bay located in the northern part of the country, close to the border with China. The entire sea area spans 1,553 square kilometers and includes 1,969 islands, with a history of 250 million years. This limestone, eroded by water, is known as "karst landform." Due to its particularly magnificent scenery, it was designated as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site on December 17, 1994.

It would be a pity to only admire the series of uniquely shaped islands of Ha Long Bay from afar. It is only by getting up close to the profound and mysterious cave landscapes that one can truly experience the magical and mystical power of nature’s craftsmanship.
