The Beijing stop of the national car and caravan campsite experience and evaluation campaign "Caravans & Camping" – Favorite Campsite, organized by Caravans & Camping magazine and supported by the Self-Drive Travel & Camping Caravan Branch of the China Tourism Vehicle & Ship Association and the Automobile Camping Tourism Branch of the Beijing Tourism Association, recently hosted its first experience event at the Beijing Longwan International Camping Park.
Prior to the event, industry experts including Liu Hanqi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Self-Drive Travel & Camping Caravan Branch of the China Tourism Vehicle & Ship Association, Dr. Wu Jinmei, Deputy Director of the Tourism Research Center at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Zhang Wen, Secretary-General of the Automobile Camping Tourism Branch of the Beijing Tourism Association, and He Wei, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Caravans & Camping magazine, were invited to conduct comprehensive and professional evaluations of the campsite. This laid a solid foundation for carrying out the event in a more thorough and targeted manner.
For this event, the organizers invited 11 self-driving family experience groups from the "Go Anytime" Custom Travel Club and four media outlets—China Daily, Phoenix Auto, Autohome, and Fast Lane—to form the judging panel. The organizers of Caravans & Camping magazine hope to identify the campsite that best suits the tastes of the Chinese public and uncover the psychological criteria by which car enthusiasts judge campsites, based on expert evaluations and the experiences and ratings provided by participating auto and caravan enthusiasts and media judges. This will help provide meaningful and constructive guidance for the nationwide boom in campsite construction.
The first stop of the event was held at the Beijing Longwan International Camping Park, located by Jinniu Lake in Yanqing District in the northwest of Beijing. The park integrates tourism, caravan and tent camping, wooden cabin accommodation, dining and entertainment, children’s play areas, and leisure vacations. It is the first five-star caravan and camping park in China to meet international standards while also catering to the consumption habits of Chinese tourists. The camping park covers a total area of approximately 1.8 million square meters and includes 13 functional zones such as the main entrance plaza area, main venue area, caravan campsite area, children’s play area, mobile wooden cabin area, tent area, canopy area, and service center. The site offers about 200 caravan pitches, 65 uniquely styled standalone wooden cabins, 30 mobile wooden cabins, 10 container houses, and imported European and American caravans for accommodation experiences. The camp also provides sightseeing battery carts and bicycle rental services for easy exploration.
After the gathering of car enthusiast families and media families, a promotional event for the activity and the campsite was held at the Beijing Longwan International Camping Park Conference Center. Gao Zhe, Executive Editor of Caravans & Camping, gave a comprehensive introduction to the event, while Hu Wentao, Sales Manager of Beijing Longwan International Camping Park, provided a detailed overview of the experience campsite, explaining the campsite planning and facility construction in depth and answering questions from the media and participating families. The atmosphere on-site was very lively.
Subsequently, campsite staff led everyone on a tour of the facilities via an electric cart convoy, conducting an in-depth look at the accommodation options and campsite amenities at Beijing Longwan International Camping Park. During the tour, staff provided detailed explanations of each section of the campsite. After the tour, during the free time, everyone enthusiastically visited areas of interest and tried out related recreational activities.
The following morning, the organizers collected the campsite scorecards filled out by the experience families and media for the "Favorite Campsite" event. To commemorate this meaningful occasion, everyone gathered in front of the Longwan International Camping Park entrance for a group photo. The participating families and media judges expressed their support for the "Favorite Campsite" event and shared their thoughts, suggestions regarding the experience campsite—Longwan International Camping Park—as well as their personal visions of an ideal campground.
Finally, the organizers thoughtfully presented small gifts to all participants—picnic mats provided by Beijing Orion Outdoor Products Co., Ltd., and two latest issues of Caravans & Camping magazine. Additionally, to thank the reviewing families, all participating households received a one-year complimentary subscription to the magazine. The experience event concluded in a joyful atmosphere of “going home with a full load.”
