Ha Long Bay is located in northern Vietnam, and its most distinctive feature is the karst topography, which has a history of over 200 million years. This has also created the unique sight of 1,969 limestone islets of various sizes scattered across the 1,553-square-kilometer bay. These peculiar rock formations extend deep underwater, sometimes standing alone, sometimes stretching out, majestic yet elegant, and sharp yet solitary. Due to its resemblance to Guilin in China’s Guangxi region, Ha Long Bay is often referred to as the "Ha Long Bay of the Sea." This unique landscape has earned Ha Long Bay recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site for two consecutive years due to its natural scenery and geological features. The rare "karst coastal landscape" is even hailed as the "Eighth Wonder of the World" and has been featured on the design of Vietnamese currency.
