Longgangshan Site

The Longgangshan Site is a cultural relic protection unit of Longwan District.

The Longgangshan Site is located in Shanghebin Village, Yaodi Town, Longwan District. This mountain is an offshoot of the Daluo Mountain range. The Neolithic site spans an area of about 1,500 square meters and boasts a wealth of relics, categorized into stone tools and pottery. Stone tools include willow-leaf-shaped stone arrowheads and perforated stone spears, both meticulously polished. Pottery varieties comprise sand-tempered red pottery, clay red pottery, black-glazed pottery, and stamped hard pottery. Artifact forms include cauldrons, jars, bowls, pots, vessels, and spinning whorls, with stamped decorative patterns such as basket weave, straight lines, woven designs, thundercloud motifs, and incised curved lines. A hemispherical spinning whorl was once unearthed at a depth of 30 centimeters below the surface, its flat surface adorned with a combined pattern of comb-tooth and comb-dot motifs. Based on the characteristics of the excavated items, the site’s upper time limit dates to the late Neolithic period, while the lower limit extends to the Warring States period.
