Cangnan Yuliao Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Guide: Yuliao Scenic Area is a provincial-level scenic spot (AAA tourist attraction) that combines summer retreats, vacations, leisure, and entertainment, often referred to as the “Oriental Hawaii.” It is located in the southern part of Cangnan, over 60 kilometers from the county seat. In the first year of the Yongzheng reign during the Qing Dynasty, ancestors surnamed Ke and Yang migrated here from Quanzhou, Fujian, built huts, and fished, hence the name Yuliao. The scenic area spans 2.3 square kilometers and features green mountains, clear waters, pristine beaches, vast seas, gentle waves, and unique rocks. Yuliao Beach is 2,000 meters long and 800 meters wide, shaped like a crescent moon. It is the largest beach on the continental shelf along China’s southeastern coast, capable of accommodating tens of thousands of people for bathing simultaneously, making it an ideal seaside beach and venue for beach and water sports. Description: The wide, flat beach is home to the “World’s Number One Delicacy”—the blood clam, which thrives in the unpolluted environment. The blood clams produced here are designated for import by Japan. When the tide recedes, the beach reveals numerous small holes with daisy-like or ice-crack patterns, where tiny crabs frequently come and go. Chasing the crabs scuttling across the sand is great fun, and if you're lucky, you might even find colorful seashells on the shore. In the middle of the beach lies a pile of stacked rocks of various sizes, hollow inside—known as musical stones. By striking different parts of these stones with other rocks, you can produce sounds resembling drums, gongs, and other five-tone rhythms, some loud and resonant, others soft and melodious. About 800 meters across from Yuliao Beach lies an islet that resembles a large turtle, with a round head and a semi-circular shell, like a sea turtle gliding over the rippling blue waves. Legend says it was a divine turtle sent by Lüshan 0 to escort Huang Jiushi back home, but it became so enchanted with Yuliao’s beauty that it chose to stay forever. Transportation: First, get to Cangnan County, then take a bus to Mazhen Town, which is just a few kilometers from Yuliao. Buses run to Yuliao every ten minutes or so. Passengers from Wenzhou can go directly to Mazhen Town by bus and then transfer to a local bus to reach Yuliao.

Mazhen Town: The pomelo, also known as “Four Seasons Pomelo” or “Si Ji Pao,” gets its name from its ability to bloom and bear fruit multiple times a year. The original Four Seasons Pomelo of Cangnan comes from Xiakui Village, Kuili Township, Mazhen District, Cangnan. It was cultivated in the Qing Dynasty’s Qianlong era by Zhou Zhizhen of Kuili from common pomelo seedlings. Having a history of over 200 years, there still remains a 150-year-old tree in Xiakui Village, Mazhen Town.
