Revolutionary Base Memorial Pavilion of Yunyan Township

Yunyan Township is a revolutionary base area. In March 1928, the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China sent Lin Pinghai and Wang Pingzhou to Wenzhou to mobilize and lead armed peasant uprisings. On June 19, Lin Pinghai presided over a joint party meeting of the three counties of Yongjia, Rui'an, and Pingyang at Anjitian (also known as Longyin Temple) on Jingtou Mountain in Pingyang (now part of Cangnan). The meeting was attended by over 50 people, including Wang Pingzhou, Lin Qubing, Lei Gaosheng, You Xia, Lin Zhen, and key members of the local peasant associations. The meeting decided that the three counties—Yongjia, Rui'an, and Pingyang—would launch coordinated large-scale uprisings at regular intervals to attack county seats, seize political power, eliminate corrupt officials and local despots, confiscate their assets, mobilize hired laborers, organize peasant associations, and establish Soviet-style governments. Although the uprising ultimately failed due to various reasons, it had a significant political impact at the time. Later, the participating peasants returned to their rural hometowns and continued their struggle against the reactionary Kuomintang and the landlord class in various ways. Many devoted individuals sacrificed their lives heroically. In May 1991, the local government built this memorial pavilion at the foot of Jingtou Mountain, about 5 kilometers from Anjitian where the joint meeting took place.

The Revolutionary Base Memorial Pavilion of Yunyan Township is located in Jingtou Village, Yunyan Township, Cangnan County, covering a land area of 1,200 square meters with a building area of 381.4 square meters. Above the entrance of the pavilion, a plaque bears twelve large characters reading “Revolutionary Base Memorial Pavilion of Yunyan Township,” with a red five-pointed star embedded in the center. On both sides of the gate are a pair of couplets: “Glory shines with the sun and moon; heroes live on through the ages.” The surrounding area features a pink wall approximately 3 meters high, inscribed with eight large characters: “Honor the martyrs, revitalize China.” Stepping through the gate and ascending the stone steps leads to the Martyrs' Memorial Hall. Inside the hall stands the “Revolutionary Base Memorial Monument of Yunyan Township,” approximately 1.2 meters high and 0.8 meters wide. The back of the monument is inscribed with brief biographies of 15 martyrs.

The Revolutionary Base Memorial Pavilion of Yunyan Township is a patriotic education base in Cangnan County.
