Jiepai Zhe-Min Boundary Marker

The Jiepai Zhe-Min Boundary Marker is a protected cultural relic of Zhejiang Province.

The Jiepai Zhe-Min Boundary Marker is located in Yanpu Town, Cangnan County, dating back to the Ming Dynasty.

The Ming Dynasty Zhe-Min boundary marker is located in Jiepai Village and on Jiepai Mountain in Cangnan County, with a history of 500 years and remains well-preserved. The marker is made of granite, standing 125 cm tall, 37 cm wide, and 11 cm thick. Its inscriptions on both sides are carved in intaglio regular script. The west-facing side, which looks toward our county, bears two lines of 13 characters: “Pingyang County Boundary / Zhengde Fourth Year, Twelfth Month, Auspicious Day.” The east-facing side, which looks toward Fuding City in Fujian Province, is inscribed vertically with three lines of 18 characters: “Zhengde Fourth Year, Twelfth Month, Auspicious Day / Erected by Jianing Dao / Funing Zhou Boundary Marker / Erected on the Second Month, Auspicious Day.”

On January 7, 2011, it was announced as part of the sixth batch of Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Units.

Yanpu Town: In the 21st year of the Republic of China (1932), Yanpu Township was first established. After the founding of the People’s Republic, in June 1950, Yanpu Township and Yunting Township were established within the current town area. In June 1952, Fussen and Lingwei townships were added. In March 1956, Fussen and Lingwei townships were abolished. In October 1961, it was renamed Yanpu People’s Commune. In May 1992, Yunting Township was merged into Yanpu Township. In 1993, Yanpu Township was upgraded to Yanpu Town.
