Former Site of Activities of the CPC Zhejiang Southern Special Committee

The Former Site of Activities of the CPC Zhejiang Southern Special Committee is a classic red tourism destination.

On February 8, 1942, due to betrayal by a traitor, the provincial committee headquarters was compromised, and Liu Ying, Secretary of the Provincial Committee, was arrested. In early April, the CPC Zhejiang Southern Special Committee relocated from Yongjia Zhushan (now Ouhai) to Tashitou in Qingjingli, passed through Yanlukeng, and after joining forces with the Qingjingli County Committee at Lanfengfeng’an, moved into the base area of activities of the Meiqi District Committee of the CPC. It established Shizhan, Hushan, Hukeng, Zhangshan, and Shijiao as key operational areas, deployed new strategic guidelines, and led revolutionary struggles across southern Zhejiang, Chushu (Lishui), and Taizhou regions. In July, the Zhejiang Southern Special Committee organized cadre study sessions in Shijiao, including a study course on Political Economy led by Committee Secretary Long Yue, which lasted half a month and was attended by personnel from the Zhejiang Southern Special Committee and Qingjingli.

In the autumn of the same year, upon learning of the news that Secretary Liu Ying had heroically sacrificed his life at Fangyan, Yongkang on May 18, the Zhejiang Southern Special Committee held a memorial service for Liu Ying in the Shijiao forest area of Wencheng. The memorial speech was delivered by Committee Secretary Long Yue. All comrades expressed their resolve to transform grief into strength, carry forward the will of the revolutionary martyrs, and see the revolution through to the end.

The Former Site of Activities of the CPC Zhejiang Southern Special Committee is located in the Shijiao forest area of the Shishan Forest Farm in Wencheng County, covering a construction area of 860 square meters. It served as one of the main bases for the Zhejiang Southern Special Committee and Qingjingli County Committee. Among these, the wooden house where Committee Secretary Long Yue once lived is a two-story structure covering an area of approximately 150 square meters.
